Circle crop
Round profile pictures with a transparent background, ready for anywhere.
Most platforms display avatars as circles but expect a square file, masking it themselves. That works until you need the round version as an actual image — for a slide, a document, a signature block or a website that does no masking of its own.
This produces a true circular PNG with everything outside the circle transparent.
How to use it
- Add your images.
- Set the output size and, if you want one, a border.
- Process and download the PNG.
Why the result must be PNG
Transparency needs an alpha channel, and JPG has none — saving a circle as JPG fills the corners with white, which looks wrong on any coloured background. Output here is always PNG.
If you know the background colour, pick White or Dark instead of Transparent and the corners are filled to match.
Choosing a size
512 × 512 covers nearly every use. Platforms downscale as needed and rarely display an avatar above 400 px.
- WhatsApp, Instagram, X — 512 px is ample
- LinkedIn, Facebook — 400 px displayed; 512 px keeps it sharp
- Slides and documents — 1024 px if the image appears large
The photo is centre-cropped to fill the circle. If the subject is off to one side, crop it square first.
